TRIP
We started riding pretty soon after I landed in Dublin...June 23 (I was a day late b/c I missed my flight to London due to bad weather in Nashville). We rode 20 miles the first day to just outside of Bray, Ireland. We camped out in some people's yard and were tired after putting our bikes together and getting a bit of a late start. We got rained on off and on all afternoon...it was a predictor of things to come...a quite soggy trip. On June 24 we woke up nice and early (Steph woke us each day at 6:30am to get going) and we rode 52 miles to Camolin, Ireland. We stopped at a convience store for dinner and asked to camp in the yard of the house next door. It turned out the house belonged to the store owner and he and his family let us camp...take a shower...and gave us tea and biscuits. They were so warm and friendly and we loved coming inside out of the rain and cold...truly a blessing (Connor, Cathy, Glenn, Emma, and baby Alex). The next day we started in the rain again and rode to Waterford. Wow...what a beautiful city! It's where Waterford crystal comes from and the group got some great photos. We decided to camp behind a plastic manufacturing business and had a little chat with a security guard around 9pm. He called his boss who said we could stay and they even gave us coffee and let us use the toilets and the breakroom for breakfast (since it was drizzling). Side Note...last summer it rained 46 days nonstop...evidently...we picked the most beautiful country to ride in...with stinking cold and wet weather. Many days we just had to laugh...we smelled pretty amazing after a few days of rain and camping. :)
More details to come...
