Hey Folks,
It has been a little while since I have had a chance to post so here is the recap leading up to this moment. Bear with me since occurances will likely be mashed up into one lump...
Our group was able to visit the IEC Oprhanage for a second time. It was tough for us to have to leave them. They were very sweet kids and we bonded so well with them. We were also able to go to Cradle of love for a second time as well which was a treat. Funny thing, while we were there Ryan and I were walking three of the older boys around the compound (keep in mind that they are three years old) when one of the kids (Benney) pulled down his pants and began peeing in a circular motion hitting another boy (Simon) and nearly hitting Ryan in the process. It was so hilarious that I had to do everything in my power to keep from falling over!
On sunday we said goodbye to Leslie who left via Kilimanjaro international airport and on monday said goodbye to Andrea who also left from JRO. The remaining five made our way to Nairobi where we spent the night. The next day we went to The Nairobi National Museum and ate at a world reknown restaurant called Carnivor. It was fantastic! Unfortunately I then had to say goodbye to my team and send them on their way. It was especially hard to say goodbye to Ali...
That night on the way home I was lucky enough to see the Kenyan Presidential Motorcade pass by on the empty freeway. I have never seen so many brand new mercedes benz in one place.
Last night I boarded a bus in Nairobi bound for Jinja at 7pm. The bus did not leave until about nine. Then, about three hours down the road, we pulled into a gas station and the driver told us that we were switching buses, but there were no buses to br switched onto. Then about 30 minutes later another bus with ten seats available came in, and amidst the confusion I was able to snag one of the last three. So all in all it took...about 16 hours to travel a couple hundred miles... Nice!
Well, it is time for me to find a place to shower and sleep.
Until next time.
