Wild River, Lake Maria and Afton State Parks both have back-packing sites. You'd hike in 1-2 miles and have more privacy than a car camping site. I know Lake Maria has water pumps but I don't know if they are working yet. Wild River is on the St. Croix but you'd want to filter or boil that water. There are other, nicer places but they are further away and may not be worth the drive.

So I hear you like to hike in the woods huh? I'm planning to go on a camping/prayer retreat from April 17-19 and I was wondering if you know of any great spots reletively close by, say within an hour drive or so. let me know.
